Confusion on what to believe, also guilt.

i was raised a witness up until i was 16, never was baptized, and now that i have my own child now i am having a really hard time with wanting her to know what religion is.

as i have gotten older, wiser i am doubting the truth even more...actually i never doubted it until just a few years ago.

being a witness is the only religion i know so i still have that sense of loyalty to it even though it's not what i choose to be.

welcome on the board! You say you dont know what to believe... well...

Being a witness you learn, there is a simple and clear answer to any question. But the world and life are very complex and complicated. And there are so many questions you never will find an answer to. We must learn to live with it.

You have choice to live in a "safe" system where you are told what to do, what to watch, what to believe, how to behave, what to eat, what sex to perform.... but you will not be allowed to use your brain on your own (actually you dont have to, we decided everything for you already, and when we change our mind, we will let you know in the WT... )

Or you can live a real live and look for the answers yourself. This way is not allways easy, but you will enjoy the pleasure of freedom and a right to learn about life and God using your brain.

Your spirituality is something different from religion. Keep it separate. Work on your spirituality, and teach your kid the same. Religion is here not to save you, neither to be a "Master over your faith". JW are religion that violates and rapes peoples spirituality.

hi everybody and my story

as mentioned in my very first port here, i will now give my story and some thoughts i have so far.. i ve been lurking here for about a month, before i registered.

well, a few months ago something like that would be unthinkable for me.. i was raised as a jw, and serve currently as an elder in a congregation.

i have family, also jws.

your story is quite the same as mine. I just was not born in, I joined on my own...

I very much understand your state of mind ... it took me over 6 years to get to the point where I am today ... I went through hell in these 6 years ... beacouse of fear and guilt... Today my position is clear: I do not consider myself as a JW, but due to the family do not want to DA or be DF. Today my wife knows evrything, she accepted it and is OK.

I have no problem with JWs, still have some friends in... but knowing they might shun me one day, I stared making new friends and starting new relationships... BTW, you wouldnt believe how many good and nice people are "out there"...

I joined JWs 18 years ago in search of the "Truth" and after several years found myself stucked in a destructive mindcontroling sect. For years in service I was reasoning with people: If you realize you follow wrong map and go in a wrong direction, would you.... (You know the picture in Live Forever book...) So now I should make the same mistake?

My point:

I dont care if Jesus died on a stake or on the cross, I dont care about what Holy spirit really is, (If that was really importatnt, Bible would be more specific about that....) BUT BLOOD??? It is about life or death... Hell, will you really teach your kids to tell doctors in the hospital they want rather die if you yourself know its a lie? Does your conscience allows you teach this your kids? Or when this comes, you will tell them "sweetheart dont do it, I myself dont believe it, I was lying to you all the time...."

Does your conscience allows you to teach this (blood) people in service and put them in danger? You cannot take this doctrine away, if you recruit somebody to JW, they will have to accept it one day... If somebody you recruited will in the future die becouse of blood ... how will you cope with that?

My decision (after years of menatal and spiritual strugling) is NO, thats not for me. I started fading, became inactive, and rather risk being DF, but I cannot teach others something I dont believe.

most rude behaviour experienced from elders...

what was the weirdest and most rude thing you experienced / witnessed from elders?.

my favourite one is called george.

he was a po in the cong, where i became an elder (i was young and absolutely unexperienced).

My favourite one is called George. He was a PO in the cong, where I became an elder (I was young and absolutely unexperienced). He was an old dictator-like guy.

The other day, 60 years old, divorceed, very spiritual and very proud sister came in the KH to George, complaining about a mistake he did (she was right...).

George didnt know what to say (because she was right) so he looked at her like she was an insane child and said in front of others: "Rita, you know what your real problem is? You need a guy!" Turned away and left...

Rita complained to a CO, and CO gave to George private counsel, and later told me ... "You have to watch over George, he cannot behave like this..."

That time I was absolutly confused, today its just funny and ridiculous... I have so many stories about George....

Oh please Cameo, do not be discouraged over the lack of interest.... you are not posting hear to achieve results ... you are posting out of the love to JWN administrators and also to bear witness .... so when the end comes upon WTBs, no JWs can claim they were not warned in advance and they will justly be destroyed and smashed to pieces...

Couple of days ago:

I sit at the table with my laptop, loged to JWN, reading your interesting posts.....

Wife on the sofa asking: "Albert, what are you reading outhere....??????"

Albert: "Just checking news honey...."

My son (7) comes to me, looks on the screen, and says: "So why does it say JEHOVAHS????"

Totally embarasing, cause my wife doesnt like me being here... she says you are to negative ......

Too bad our daughter was born....

thats what on many occasions our long time family friend (an elder) told us.

believe it or not, they were saying this in her presence (she was 16 at the time)!!!.

I remember when my wife got pregnant for the first time 8 years ago, number 1 question of EVERYBODY in KH was: "Oh, did you plan it?" OMG - what a stupid question! Like you should apologize for it! No one single "wordly" person did ever ask us this! Its unthinkable!

I remember I was answering everybody: "Do you really think this is a proper question brother?" And on several occasions (to our close friends) I answerd "Oh, you want to know if our condom got ripped?"

If it was supposed to be embarassing for me, why not for them?
